UNMOORED
01 Prelude 2026
She didn’t notice me in the doorway ,
her eyes closed against the dawn light ,
a joint between her lips ,
her hair messy from the night before.
After a final drag she dropped it
in yesterday’s wine
and laid down again
Are you coming?
I want to stay in bed
a while longer
I obeyed
and went back to
her embrace
She rested her head on my chest
wrapped her arms around me
and like that we remained
The quiet I had only known as
a prelude to violence
took on a different shape
We spoke little
drifting in and out of sleep
our embrace only broken
by full bladders and dry throaths
We took turns rolling,
sometimes she'd hold the joint to my lips
other times, she'd lay down and hand it to me
Your turn' all she'd say
After some time,
I turned her towards me
a faint smile on her lips
her brow slighly raised
what is it? she said
I kissed her gently
are you hungry love?
02 Fragments 2026
Your weight on my my lap while waxing my eye brows, soft lips easing the pain 'dont be such a pussy'
your hair tickling my nose, face buried in my chest, the world quiet besides the rhythm of your breath.
Your hair between my fingers, white foam trailing down my hands, your eyes closed, a pleased hum in your throat, satisfied smile on your lips.
Shivering legs, nails scorching my back,  breath hot on my ear, the scent of your neck, black orchids and dark wine, overwhelming me.
03 Untitled 2026
It was that hour of the day just before darkness fell, the script was written and he was reading through it once more. The scenes worked but still there was something he could not quite get right. He wondered for a bit, frowning at the pages, turning it over this way and that but nothing came. Annoyed, he put the script down and started drifting, and as always he drifted right back to her.
He was tense, unsure about what the next few hours would bring. He hadn't seen her for some time and did not know what she wanted, or what he was willing to risk. He glanced in the mirror and noticed his hair had grown long. With the sparse light from his dying lamp aind the last daylight, he began shaving his head, every so often running his hand over it, feeling for forgotten pieces.
The shaving done, he went to his bathroom to clean the stray hairs from his skin and washed his face.
White foam trailing down his hands as he massaged it gently. Then he went back to his room.
Standing in front of the mirror, wearing nothing but a tanktop and some boxers, he studied himself. The freshly shaved head staring back at him with a smile he had forgotten he possessed.
The last rays of sun danced on his face as he looked a bit longer at himself.
He checked his phone. Thirty minutes. He turned up the jazz coming through his speakers, found his joint, and drifted through his room. Some moments he'd dance when the sax was particularly captivating. Others he stood staring at nothing, unseeing.
04 drifting 2026
The sun gently teased him from his slumber.
Still tired he slowly took in the room he had found refuge in.
An old burnt-orange Persian rug anchored the room, the worn fabric soft to the
raw soles of his feet.
books  were stacked against the walls, in piles on the floor, scattered on the table.
Dust clinging to some of them.
A few mismatched chairs crowded a dark circular table,
a forgotten coffee jar, a pack of malboros and a few journals on top of it.
He was in solitude, unmoored and unhurried, watching the smoke rising from his cigarette.
A  bossa nova song soaked in sun, sand and sea came through the old speakers.
The Soft guitar strokes carrying him back to a home he had not yet found.
Entrenched by the melody, he reached for his notebook.
He started writing, of desire, of longing, of love found but not held.
He had been drifting sometime, never knowing where the next day would take him,
what bed he’d wake in or with whom his next breakfast was shared. There was freedom in it, no ties to anywhere or anyone,
yet in quiet moments he wondered how it’d be to lay his head down somewhere.
05 unhurried 2026
She woke to her vibrating phone, saw its demands and tossed it away. not today she thought. She stretched to her full length, sigh escaping her lips. A smile appeared on her face, yesterday still lingering, a faint throb in her chest, the memory of his lips tracing all of her, breath hot on her skin. They had talked till the break of dawn. Falling asleep, entangled, as the world woke from its slumber.
The light soft, faint shadows cast by the quiet winter sun. She sat cross-legged on the couch, wearing a white tanktop and black panties. journal on her lap, pencil between her lips. Crossed out line after line, annoyed she couldn't get the cadence right. She took a drag from the joint, resting on her cabinet filled with odds and ends, and put pencil to paper once more, determined to finish the song. The gap between feeling and words etching faint lines on her forehead. Absently she grabbed her wine, drank deep and continued.
